Minnesota Breds The Minnesota Bred program strives to encourage racing and breeding in the state
of Minnesota. The goal is to promote, facilitate and develop the Minnesota Bred Program as one of the premier state-bred program
in the country. The Minnesota Bred Program was established to encourage the buying, breeding and training
of horses in the state of Minnesota. It gives stallion owners an incentive to locate their stallions and horse farms in the
state. The program includes: - Breeders Awards Purse Supplement money added to Minnesota Bred races. Purse supplements added; $4000/day (adjustable according to class of horse) plus the
average daily purse (est. $5000).
- Provides a minimum of 8 races a year, 5 pari-mutuel and 3 fairs for each class of both 2 and
3-year old colts and fillies, trotters and pacers alike.
- The track is required to write a minimum of one Minnesota Bred restricted race per day. If there are not a sufficient
number of such horses entered in the declared race to make up an adequate slate of entries, another similarly restricted race
may be substituted.
- If a race needs to split, placement of horses will be up to the discretion of the race secretary.
- All horses must meet the tracks qualifying standards.
